Authors After Dark was this past weekend. All I can say about it at this point is whoa. It should tell you something, though, that I’m just now mostly recovered. I’ll be posting more later this week, but for now I’m just going to say that everyone was wonderful, and that it was thrilling to meet everyone I met. One of the coolest things of all was after the con, when Meljean Brook, who I’d met at RT and actually got a chance to talk to for a few minutes at the Steam Ball at AAD, showed up as following me on Twitter. How cool is that? As an aside, that’s not the only cool thing that happened, and you’ll get to see the rest as I post about them later this week.
Also, as an aside, KT Grant rocks. That is all.
For now, CONTESTS! There were some contests at AAD, and I’m congratulating the winners here, since I didn’t get to congratulate all of them properly in person.
First, Kendra Egert and Reyna Sherer each won a copy of my Iron Angel series at the Steam Ball. Congratulations, Kendra and Reyna!
Finally, anyone who has seen me at a con knows I dance. All mentions of dancing ability aside, unless I am forced to leave for some reason I’m going to keep dancing until the DJ gives in and calls it a night. Sadly, I almost never see anyone keep up with me on the dance floor. Once in a while I get someone out there at the end, and once in a while someone is out there as early as I am, but very rarely does anyone stick it out from end to end with me. Kel, you were out there from end to end, and for that you win a place in the Undying 54th and a copy of The Strange Fate of Capricious Jones!
I know I’ve announced this before, but she’s been so nice about waiting for her gift basket, especially how long it takes due to my inexperience with international mail, that I wanted to send out an additional congratulations to Sarah Bibi Setar, winner of my Skyrockets in Flight gift basket. On a related note, I met JoJo briefly at AAD. So! Much! Fun!
Next, special thanks go out to Wilma Keel, Liza Hebert, and Mary Ford. They bid on and won the items I put up for the LA Banks auction a little while ago. I was reminded of it again this weekend, as the hotel where AAD was hosted was also the hotel where some of the out-of-town folks came for LA Banks’ memorial service.
That’s about it for now. I may be rearranging things a little in the next few days, so I’ll have a ‘links’ page, and have some links to my guest posts and reviews and such. I’ll also be posting more about AAD over the next three. Also, as always, I’ll have something up for Six Sentence Sunday. See you then!
